STEP offers emergency rental assistance to St. Louis Park residents experiencing a housing crisis with the goal to prevent eviction and stabilize housing for individuals and families facing unexpected financial hardship.

2026 Crisis Rent Assistance Fund: STEP has a separate fund to help families who are unable to make rent, mortgage, or utility payments due to lost income while homebound. These funds are more flexible than STEP’s traditional program. Eligible families reside in St. Louis Park or have a student (K-12) in a St. Louis Park school. The program can also be accessed by calling 952-234-4323 and leaving a message.


STEP provides crisis rent assistance on a case-by-case basis to residents of St. Louis Park who are at risk of losing their housing due to financial emergencies.

The household’s situation should be solvable, meaning there will be sufficient income to cover future rent. When applying, you will be asked to provide documentation. Please note that rent assistance is limited.

Priority will be given to individuals with gross incomes at or below 50% of the area median income. Please refer to the chart for more details.
